Brixham is a pretty fishing port on the south west coast of England in the beautiful county of Devon.
It is a very popular holiday resort being part of Torbay,which is known as the English Riviara because of its mild climate.This consists of Torquay,Paignton,Brixham and their surrounding villages.
It is also very popular with sailors as the facilities at the Brixham Prince William marina and the Brixham yacht club are excellent.
Brixham has its own fleet of working fishing trawlers plus a fleet of heritige sailing trawlers
Inside the beautiful inner harbour you will find a full sized replica of sir Francis Drakes Golden Hind.
Brixham is surrounded by beautiful countryside including Berry Head National nature reserve which has the shortest highest lighthouse in England!
The south west coastal path is breathtaking.
There are many beautiful secluded coves along the coast path but the main beaches in Brixham are the Breakwater beach and Fishcombe cove.
There is also an open air sea water swimming pool at Shoalstone but if the weather is bad there is always the indoor swimming pool!
There are many tourist attractions in and around Brixham including the steam railway which runs between Kingswear and Paignton,The excellent model village at Babbacombe and Kents cavern,Devons famous prehistoric caves.
A bit further afield is the Dartmoor National Park
William of Orange first landed in England at Brixham before becoming King William 111 in 1688 and setting up home in Hampton Court Palace.
